SMS Text Message Updates for Star Alliance Member Flights
The Star Alliance is at it again, helping the customers of participating airlines track flight status via SMS text message. The new flight tracker, powered by OAG Worldwide Limited and mBlox, allows customers to track all flight segments within the network, whether in the United States or abroad.
The new service will alert the customer of any terminal changes, as well as any delays over 15 minutes or any other significant changes to your itinerary. As I mentioned with other flight tracking services, this is always a wonderful convenience.
As an added service, you can add an additional mobile number to the tracking request. That means you can have the alerts sent to your phone and the phone of the person picking you up at the airport. Your buddy will thank you if it prevents him or her from sitting in the cell phone lot for an hour waiting on your delayed flight.
