Delta Air Lines Fuel Surcharge
Hot off the press, Delta Air Lines is implementing a new fuel surcharge, announced earlier today. The airline plans to initiate a new fuel surcharge for booking frequent flyer tickets under its rewards program, Sky Miles. The new fee is a direct result of the skyrocketing cost of jet fuel.
This fee will apply to tickets booked after August 15, 2008.
The new fee takes effect on tickets booked on or after Aug. 15. Frequent flyers will be charged $25 for tickets within the United States and $50 …

$800 Bribe for Bumped Airline Passengers
There are two kinds of people in this world. People who love to be bumped off a flight and people who loathe it. As many times as I’ve seen lucky passengers win the $400 to take the next flight, I’ve never personally had the opportunity. The one time I could have, and should have in retrospect, taking the bumped flight earnings would have meant missing my 10 year high school reunion. Oh, to have that $400 in my pocket and those 6 hours back….
Those of you who are happy …

So after you watch the game Saturday, get over your hangover on Sunday and go back to …

Virgin America On-Demand Video Library
Virgin America is doing things. And now that includes offering an on-demand music video library, courtesy of VH1. Now, the only thing I’ve ever seen worth watching on VH1 was The Flavor of Love, but some of you may get excited about this. The videos are available on the carrier’s New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington DC and Las Vegas routes. And guess what? They’re FREE!
The offering is part of the new Red(TM) inflight entertainment system, and includes videos “from the most popular artists and genres featured on VH1 networks.” …

Frontier Airlines Fresh Meal Options
I’m really tired of all of the airline bashing that’s going on these days, almost as tired as I am of hearing about gas prices or anything to do with the election. So, I’m really happy to have this opportunity to pass on some positive information to you guys. Our bankrupt friends at Frontier Airlines, you know - those guys with the crafty pictures of animals on their rear wings, are changing up your inflight dining options with some tasty new choices. Tasty for airline food, anyway.
As …

1-800-Flights Flight Departure and Arrival Information
1-800-Flights is a company determined to provide you with toll-free phone access to flight status for nearly every commercial passenger flight arriving and departing the U.S. daily. Pretty handy if you don’t have internet access on your phone (and you don’t want to pay the outrageous $12 or so to log on at the terminal for just a few minutes).
The company is aiming to provide travelers with fast, convenient access to continuously updated flight status information by phone, using voice-recognition technology. Sounds great. Especially if you’re rushing to the …

Delta Air Lines Sky360 Club in New York
Think you’ve done everything there is to do in New York? Think again. Delta Air Lines has opened a new club - the Sky360 in New York City. Sky360 is a “lounge and event space” showing off the airline’s “unique in-flight experience and worldwide destinations.” So they expect people to actually visit this club on purpose to watch inflight entertainment screenings for hits like Entourage, Sex and the City and the Sopranos. Obviously these would have to be on-demand selections when in the sky.
When the sun goes down, the Midnight Sky Bar will …

US Airways Coach Class Meal Options
US Airways is debuting new, healthier meal options in steerage class. But the added nutrition will come at a price. Meals will go from $5 a pop to $7. For that price, you may as well order something at the airport. These meals are offered on flights over 3.5 hours between 8:00a.m and 8:00p.m.
Breakfast: Deli plate with tiny bagels, peppered turkey, ham, provolone and cheddar cheese (mmmm) served with red grapes and cream cheese OR cinnamon French toast with “honey-nut cream cheese spread” and red grapes on the side. That actually sounds tasty. …
