Grand Hyatt DFW has introduced two interesting new programs with iTASTE and The Virtual Menu. “Utilizing state-of-the-art technology, guests may enjoy a guided cheese, chocolate or wine tasting with the iTASTE program or make entrée selections and receive recommendations on food and wine pairings from The Virtual Menu.” The new programs are available exclusively at The Grand Hyatt DFW, the first in the hospitality industry to use this type of technology to enhance the guest experience.

CalorieKing Mobile Calorie Counter
CalorieKing is a website that offers “food awareness tools for weight management.” I love that wording. The website has announced the launch of the new CalorieKing Mobile Web Site, mobile.calorieking.com. This site allows anyone with an web enabled mobile phone or smartphone to search CalorieKing’s 50,000 item food database for details including calories, carbohydrates, fat, protein and more. And the service is free.

ZAGAT.mobi offers the company’s standard restaurant, nightlife and hotel content for each and every major U.S. citiy, as well as London and other “select international destinations.”
“We pioneered the concept of ‘consumer generated content’ almost 30 years ago,” notes Nina Zagat. “As the media landscape has evolved, we’ve taken a ‘platform agnostic’ approach to helping …

Wyndham Hotels Fields & Sun Breakfast
Wyndham Hotels has ia new breakfast program called Fields & Sun that “emphasizes personalization, fresh ingredients and outstanding service.” The breakfast features Bear Naked granola (Hehe!), organic hot cereal, made-to-order eggs, freshly baked muffins and croissants and a regional selection of at least eight fruits and berries, depending on the season. Mmmm, fruits and berries. Isn’t that what the Ranger always told Yogi he was supposed to eat?
Rather than stale old buffet style scrambled eggs, you can now have cooked to order omelets, scrambled eggs or poached eggs. …

Alaska Airlines Inflight Meal Options
Alaska Airlines has taken the mystery out of inflight meal service, providing customers with every detail of the service provided on various flights. Now there is no reason to have to ask the flight attendant whether or not you’re being fed. You’ll be prepared.
Flights from 1½ to 2 hours in duration: Morning flights offer a Continental breakfast service in the First Class cabin. An appetizer snack and beverage service are provided on midday and early evening flights. In the main cabin, a beverage service is provided and customers may purchase an Anytime Picnic Pack. …

United Airlines Offers Starbucks Inflight
United Airlines customers will keep on enjoying their Starbucks coffee with the recently signed agreement between the two brands. United, apparently, exclusively serves Starbucks coffee. Now, I haven’t flown United in quite a while so this is news to me. Starbucks is the crack-cocaine of the beverage world, so I’m sure it isn’t hurting the airline’s passenger loads by serving the stuff. I still prefer a local brew, myself.
“Our customers expect the best from us, and we are constantly working to provide that to them,” said Charlie Ahmes, United vice …

Healthy Dining in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport
Airport dining is difficult. As a REALLY frequent traveler, I find it almost impossible to find healthy options in the airports around the country. You can only eat so many salads, but your options are limited beyond that. The Minneapolis/St. Paul airport is focusing on offering travelers more healthy dining options, which is GREAT! Especially for all of those airport patrons who are consistantly stranded by shady Northwest Airlines.
What can you get and where do you get it?
