Napa Valley Jazz & Blues Festival in Calistoga
Napa Valley will again play host to the annual Jazz & Blues Festival in Calistoga from November 2 to 4. Sounds will include Bay Area musicians like Herb Gibson, Larry Vuckovich and Alvon Johnson. I don’t know who any of those people are, but they sound jazzy.
Day one tickets are $15 and include a commemorative wine glass and four drink tickets. $15 is a steal for four drinks in my book! Festival goes will have the opportunity to listen, shop and enjoy local wines from 11 a.m. to …

Austin City Limits Music Festival - September 14 - 16, 2007
It’s time for the Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL). This year’s festival is coming up from September 14 to 16, 2007 at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. The lineup is, as always, phenomenal and I’m working on a way to head down and impose on my friends that weekend. If you click on a band name on the lineup, it will play a clip. An even better way to decide your listening plans than searching for the unknown band’s MySpace pages.
You can bring in …

Detroit 3 Days in the D Festival
Detroit is the place to be for Labor Day weekend this year (in Michigan anyway) with the 3 Days in the D festival being held from the Detroit River to Pontiac. The festival promises to offer non-stop jazz, great food, car racing and more. The three big events will be the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix; the Detroit International Jazz Festival and Chrysler Arts, Beats & Eats. In addition to the big three, the Michigan State Fair and the Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly (hehe!) will be held that weekend.
The city is bribing participants in …

The festival kicks off on Thursday, July 26, 2007 and runs through Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Lincoln Park, 1 Lincoln Park, Newark, NJ.

The Union County Music Fest in Cranford, New Jersey is a FREE music fest being held this September 15, 2007 from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m at Nomahegan Park. The headliner hasn’t yet been announced (so I’m assuming they’re trying desperately to get someone great) but Chuck Berry will be in the house, which is cool. The festival will also feature The Smithereens, The Alarm, The English Beat, The Old Ceremony, Fountains of Wayne, The Apples in Stereo and even Trout Fishing in America from my home state.

Wordstock in Portland, Oregon
Wordstock is a book festival held in Portland, Oregon each year in November. It is one of the largest literary events on the West Coast, and well worth a visit if you’re in the area at the time. This year, Wordstock will be held from November 9th to the 11th. The festival “welcomes poets, novelists and journalists of all genres to share their love of storytelling.” I really would like to go to this, as I’m a big fat lit geek. Workshops, lectures and readings from more than 150 authors fill the weekend, and …

Steamboat Springs Wine Festival
Steamboat Springs, Colorado is getting ready for the Fourth Annual Wine Festival, to take place from August 2 - 5, 2007. I like a wine festival, and this sounds like a fun place to drop in if your travels take you to Colorado in the early part of August (mine will not, as I plan to be at home celebrating my birthday).
The festival brings in more than 100 international and domestic wineries and top-notch chefs from around the nation. Mmmm…food and wine.
The Opening Reception is held …
