Business Things to Do

Book Your Poker Tournament Seat Online

PTseats.com is a spanking new online booking service like no other. You don’t book hotel rooms or car rentals or boring Grey Line tours, you book a slot for your gambling habit - tickets for poker tournaments. Awesome!

The websites first casino partner is the Trump Taj Mahal, located right down the street (kind of) from the Business Travel Logue in beautiful Atlantic City, New Jersey. The on-line booking agency provides “fast, secure and convenient tickets to play poker at tournaments anywhere in the United States.” That sounds handy.

According to Fabricio Schaffrath, the company’s founder, …

Seattle Mariners - Safeco Field

Safeco FieldWe at the Business Travel Logue continue with our dedication to all things baseball. Despite being REALLY tired in Seattle last night (I’m on east coast time), I made my way to the Mariners vs. Angels game and was pleasantly surprised. When you think of teams with great records, teams who have a shot in the post season, teams who have dominated the sport, Seattle just doesn’t come to mind. But despite that fact, the city has the very best baseball fans I’ve seen this year. It’s …

City Running Tours in Chicago, New York and Washington D.C.

Forrest GumpCity Running Tours is a fun and healthy way to see the cities you visit, while burning off the extra calories from all of that airport cuisine you’ve been stuffing down your throat. These are (obviously) tours in which you run around the city, being led by a guide who provides information on the sites you pass and historical facts. The cities currently available include Chicago, New York and Washington D.C.

Chicago: There are three Chicago tours available. The first is based on the Great Chicago Fire of …

Back From Nicaragua

Granada CathedralLike I mentioned before, business travelers need time to recuperate from all of the stress of frequent travel. If you stay at home, you’ll surely be sucked in to some project you’ve been putting off or lay in a vegetative state on the couch. So I really suggest a trip away for fun, as often as possible. And with all of those frequent flyer miles and hotel points, the opportunities are endless.

Last month, I made my way to Tulum, Mexico to lay on the beach and drink Modelo …

Hurricane Katrina Self Guided Audio Tour

Rescued

Travelers to the great city of New Orleans who have been away for a while or who have never seen the city before generally have a few common goals. Seeing Rue de Bourbon and now seeing the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. I made my way to the Crescent City for Jazz Fest about 8 months after the disaster, and was awed by the ravages of the city. New Orleans has certainly progressed in the last two years, but it is a city changed forever. Travelers now have the option …

Healthy Dining in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport

Airport dining is difficult. As a REALLY frequent traveler, I find it almost impossible to find healthy options in the airports around the country. You can only eat so many salads, but your options are limited beyond that. The Minneapolis/St. Paul airport is focusing on offering travelers more healthy dining options, which is GREAT! Especially for all of those airport patrons who are consistantly stranded by shady Northwest Airlines.

What can you get and where do you get it?

Blackened Warm Walleye Bistro Salad: Axel’s Bonfire. “This is a salad that stands apart, thanks to a …

Back From Nicaragua, Part II

Omotepe7:00 am the following morning we met Nine for the climb. He was actually a terrible guide, I wouldn’t recommend him at all. He told us little about the indigenous plants and animals and nothing about the geology or makeup of the island. We did learn, however, how to drop an f bomb in several Latin American countries. He rambled on the entire trip about random things that had nothing to do with the volcano or the island. It was really annoying. Several times, he went ahead …

Union County Music Fest in Cranford, New Jersey

UC Music Fest

The Union County Music Fest in Cranford, New Jersey is a FREE music fest being held this September 15, 2007 from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m at Nomahegan Park. The headliner hasn’t yet been announced (so I’m assuming they’re trying desperately to get someone great) but Chuck Berry will be in the house, which is cool. The festival will also feature The Smithereens, The Alarm, The English Beat, The Old Ceremony, Fountains of Wayne, The Apples in Stereo and even Trout Fishing in America from my home state.

Pre-festival, you can …

Ashamed to be a Braves Fan

Braves fans should be ashamed of themselves after last night’s little performance at Turner Field. I had the rare opportunity to see my favorite team in action last night in Atlanta and I was SUPER excited! I told my co-worker who joined me for the game that the tomahawk chop is the greatest sound in baseball…maybe the greatest sound in the world. And hotdogs and beer never tasted so good as they do in the stands. With Smoltz pitching and …
