Delta Air Lines Miles Transfer Fee Waiver
Delta Air Lines is offering a promotion for this month, May of 2007. For this month only, the airline will waive the normal $25.00 miles transfer fee when you transfer miles between two SkyMiles accounts. The airline will still charge $0.01 per mile, so if you’re transferring in a large quantity, you’ll still have a bit of a payment. Up to 30,000 miles can be transferred in increments of 1,000 miles at a cost of $0.01 per mile. Sounds to me like if you transfer the maximum number of miles out, you’ll be charged $10 per transaction and top out at $300.00. That’s a lot of money, considering 30,000 miles will only get you one round trip ticket and unless you’re flying transcon, you can probably get a ticket on a budget carrier for less than that anyway.
Delta has doubled the maximum number of transferred miles any individual SkyMiles account can receive per calendar year to 300,000 miles, making it easier to receive the gift of travel. Up to 150,000 miles may be transferred out of any individual SkyMiles account per calendar year.
