* Review: Monte’s Steak & Seafood in the Quarter is serving up New Orleans style steak and seafood minutes from downtown in Jackson, Mississippi2007. I had the Crescent City Redfish and it was awfully yummy. Like any self-respecting New Orleans style restaurant, they fill you up on tasty bread and salad before you even see your entree. The very best part of Monte’s is Monte himself. He greets incoming customers with “We’re glad you’re here” upon entry of this wonderfully decorated establishment. I’ve never felt so welcome in an eating establishment in my life. I had the pleasure of talking with Monte for a while at the bar. He grew up in Nigeria and moved to Jackson for college, where he married and had children. He is such an interesting and cultured man, you should really take the opportunity to talk with him if it presents itself.
On the nights when the air in Jackson isn’t so thick it could drown a person, Monte’s offers a gorgeous small patio for dining. I LOVE eating on the patio.

Lets talk about the WORST,UNCLEAN, SALTY, CHEAP DECOR RESTAURANT in Jackson, MS.
I have seen New York gutters look cleaner!
On April 08, 2008 my husband and I went to Monte’s for the 1st time for our wedding anniversary and I felt sick .I notice the carpet was old and dirty, the walls had cracks in them, the menu had food finger prints on it, the 79.cent crackers that were on the table was served in a plate that had crumbs in it, the windows were covered in spider webs and overall dirty, the waiter had on a cheap tie and wrinkled shirt, the seating was some cheap bright red booth seats, the walls were dirty, the food was salty and the plate looked as though it was burned and food was dripped all over the sides. When he brought a to go box it has some brown slime in the inside of it. We left as soon as possible and I WILL NEVER EAT,WALK NEAR, NOR SAY THE NAME OF THAT PLACE EVER AGAIN.
I WOULD NEVER RECCOMENDED THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE! THIS THE SECOND WORST RESTAURANT IN JACKSON, MS. DO NOT EAT AT MONTE’S ON LAKELAND!
