Frontier Airlines is expanding its Early Returns program to provide customers with more ways to earn elite status. Effective immediately, passengers may earn elite status based on the number of flight segments flown per year. To obtain Assent status, you must fly 25 segments; to earn Summit status, 40 segments.

In addition, passengers who spend $60,000 in a calendar year on their Frontier MasterCard can earn Ascent Status. To my knowledge, this is the only program that lets passengers earn elite status by using their credit card.

Among other benefits, Early Returns members have the following:

  • 15,000 mile seat redemption level

  • Exit Row seating: Ascent and Summit members can reserve Exit Row seats when booking (provided they meet FAA requirements for those seats).
  • Confirmed standby seats are $25 for base and Ascent members, free for Summit members.
  • $100 change fees are waived for Summit members when changing a reservation.
