Mount Vesuvius Exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art

Stabiae FrescoeThe Dallas Museum of Art will soon showcase an exhibition featuring artwork and archaeological artifacts, including frescoes and stucco fragments from the excavated ruins of Stabiae, Italy. If your hear belongs to Rome, but you business travel will only take you to Dallas, this is a great opportunity to see a remarkable collection.

Stabiae, Italy was a resort community overlooking the Bay of Naples. In A.D. 79, Mount Vesuvius violently erupted, burying the city, along with its residents in ash and cinders along with nearby Pompeii and Herculaneum. This exhibition is a first in the United States and sounds like a great way to spend a few hours in Dallas. The show runs from July 8 to October 7, 2007.

The Dallas Musuem of Art offers Thursday Night Live each Thursday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with free general admission. Thursday Night Live features Jazz in the Atrium from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Sketching in the Galleries from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
