The Old Mill in North Little Rock, Arkansas is a beautiful spot to visit any time of the year. If you’re in Little Rock for business or pleasure, you really should take the time to see the historic Pugh’s Mill, which was featured in the opening credits of Gone With the Wind. Every Arkansan knows about the place, and hordes of people make the trip with a photographer in tow for high school senior pictures and wedding photos. Don’t let that discourage you, it usually isn’t that crowded. But you really should check it out.

The Old Mill is located at Lakeshore Drive and Fairway Avenue in the Lakewood neighborhood of North Little Rock, which is actually a separate city from Little Rock, on the north side of the Arkansas River. It is less than a 10 minute drive from downtown. If Old Mill 2 you’re staying in west Little Rock, which is not a separate city, it’s about half an hour. The best advice I can give you is NOT to stay in west Little Rock. That is, unless you like chain restaurants and traffic.

The mill was designed in 1931 as a replica of early mills used in the state of Arkansas. It has never been a working mill, which is a surprise to most people. It is, however, on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Old Mill is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from April to October and 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m the rest of the year. Free Admission.
