Alaska Airlines Improved Mileage Ticket Bookings

Alaska Airlines recently introduced a new tool that makes it easier than ever to book your Mileage Plan frequent flyer tickets online for both Alaska Air and Horizon, the airline’s regional partner. This new tool is called “Award Finder” and it provides Mileage Plan partners with an easy as pie way to book tickets.

How does it work?

First, you select the route you would like to travel in a particular month. The Award Finder then displays all available award seats each day for the month selected. This is a huge help if your travel days are flexible, and lets face it, they have to be if you’re traveling on miles. In the past, customers were only able to search for available awards seats by day. That meant you may have to spend a considerable amount of time searching for dates in which you could travel.

“We strive to make more award seats available than other carriers,” said Rick Rasmussen, Alaska’s director of customer loyalty. “Our new ‘Award Finder’ makes it even easier to find the best award itinerary available for travel where and when you want to go.”

Award Finder provides members with information on all award seats available for one-way and round trip itineraries on Alaska and Horizon, in all categories. That means it does include Saver and Peak award seats, coach and first-class seats, and award-sale seats. If it works better for you, you can book a different award seat type each way on your round trip itinerary. So if there is a Saver award available for your outbound flight and a Coach award available for the return, you’re good to go.

Mileage Plan members can earn and redeem miles on more than a dozen airlines, “including more major U.S. airlines than any other frequent-flier program.” As with all frequent flyer programs, you can also earn miles through an extensive network of partners, like credit and debit cards, Mileage Plan Shopping, Mileage Plan Dining, Safeway and more than 30 hotel and car-rental partners worldwide.
