Bay Area California Free Metro Wi-Fi
The San Francisco bay area is happy to provide free wireless, which is great news for those of us who don’t want to pay $9.95 to connect for 2 hours at our hotel. Muni-Wireless is available in Foster City, Concord, Santa Clara, San Jose, Sunnyvale and Cupertino. The website doesn’t specify that it is available in San Francisco, so they may be on a different network.
The website offers coverage maps for the cities listed above. The service has worked really well thus far, although you do have to click through an ad for each tab you open. Not a big deal, just click on the “Continue Browsing” text in the upper right hand corner.
This post is coming to you from my hotel room in San Jose. Here’s a tip for you: The Crowne Plaza Downtown is a nice place, but they charge like $9.95 for 24 hours of internet access. That’s highway robbery as far as I’m concerned. If you get a room on the side of the hotel where the parking garage is located, your view will suck but you should be able to get a FREE signal from the park adjacent to the parking structure.
