Continental Airlines Interline eTickets

Airline TicketsContinental Airlines has completed its goal of implementing interline eTickets for airline passengers. As of now, Continental passengers can use eTickets for each and every one of the airline’s alliance partners, including all current and planned members of the SkyTeam Alliance, codeshare partners and frequent flyer partners. That means you can get eTickets for 77 carriers through the airline. Whew, that makes things easier.

By the end of this year, Continental plans to stop issuing or accepting paper tickets. This decision is in accordance with the International Air Transport Association’s mandate for 100% eTicket implementation worldwide by the end of the year. First I’ve heard of that, but it sounds like a good decision to me.

What does it do for you? Interline eTickets permit customers to fly and check baggage on Continental and other carriers on a single paperless eTicket itinerary. eTickets are currently valid at all of the over 280 airports served by Continental around the world. I would assume that would move up to 100% of the airports once the IATA’s mandate is in effect.
