Northwest Airlines FlyNow Fee for Ticket Changes

Stand-By Northwest Airlines has recently changed their ticket change policy to the new “FlyNow” option. This option allows customers to confirm an alternate, qualifying domestic flight operating anytime during the day of departure for $25. That is, rather than getting to the airport early and waiting endlessly to catch a standby flight for free. FlyNow provides customers with confirmed tickets, which can take a little sweat off your brow when you’re trying to get home early.

The FlyNow option is available to customers checking in on the day of departure at nwa.com or at a Self-service Check-in Kiosk for flights with the continental United States, Alaska and to/from Canada.

Customers traveling on refundable tickets may continue to confirm same-day flight changes without incurring a fee. So when you’re traveling for business, your bases should be covered. Really, who travels on non-refundable tickets when they’re working? It is my understanding that elite customers will still have the option of standing by for flights for free as well.
