Sundance Channel “What’s the Big Idea?” Contest

The Sundance Channel has an interesting contest that may be of interest to those of you who are more eco-conscious. The second annual “What’s the Big Idea?” contest gives you the opportunity to share your very own eco-solution. The contest, sponsored by Lexus Hybrid Living, asks entrants to submit a short film or photo essay demonstrating how they work green, play green, eat green or live green. Surely some of you are making great strides in creating a more ecologically friendly business travel world.

This contest kicks off a new series for the Sundance Chanel with “Big Ideas for a Small Planet.” This particular series will launches on April 1 as part of The Green, the weekly program that focuses on environmental topics.

Whadda ya get? The winner will be receive a cash prize in the amount of $10,000 to help make the “Big Idea” a reality. In addition, they’ll get a private green audit by “Big Ideas for a Small Planet” subject Current Energy. Four runners up will receive a Sundance Channel Green VIP Bag. I don’t know if the bag is actually green, or just environmentally green. Maybe both.

Current Energy provides something I’m hugely interested in. It focuses on energy-efficient solutions that are environmentally sensitive or advanced. Focusing on home and business systems as a whole, Current Energy saves customers money on products, services and utility bills. You can find out more on “Big ideas for a Small Planet: Gadgets” airing on June 17th.

The nitty gritty: To enter, you’ll need to submit a one-minute short film or photo essay featuring your “Big Idea” to sundancechannel.com. Entires must be submitted between April 1 and May 20, 2008. Sundance Channel will then select the top 25 entries to be viewed and voted on by users between May 27 and June 24. The top five according to the viewers will be reviewed by a panel of environmental experts who will pick the winner. Entries will be judged on creativity, overall theme, feasibility and presentation. The winner will be announced the week of July 7th.
