Parking in L.A. is terrible. Everyone knows that. So if you’re out for a night on the town, your best best is to stay put once you find a parking spot. I just heard about the trolley system available in Hollywood, craftily named the Holly Trolly, that provides transportation to bar hoppers around the city. It’s super cheap and has entertainment and security. The orange trolley bus designed to look like an old-fashioned cable car offers an all night long, stress-free $1 shuttle service, from 6:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, with stops every twelve minutes at parking lots and clubs throughout Hollywood.
Participating bars, restaurants and nightclubs have promotional tokens that are good to ride all night. LADOT Passes are accepted, and fares can be paid on the trolley. Passengers can use their receipt as parking validation for the city’s garages at the Arclight and Hollywood & Highland. A map of the route can be found on http://www.ladottransit.com/other/trolley.
Passengers are welcomed by “ambience directors,” well-dressed security officers who act as bouncers and offer information for riders. Music is pumped in from Sirius satellite radio. The Trolleys were introduced to help alleviate parking issues in Hollywood, and is perfect for business travelers who want to check out the club scene without driving all over town. It’s much cheaper and easier than moving your car each time you change bars and more convenient than L.A.’s standard public transportation since it only stops at bars, parking garages and centers of activity.
