2007 RiverTop Parties at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas
The Peabody Hotel is probably the king of Little Rock hotels. Don’t let its posh look scare you off, the rooftop parties are pretty laid back. The RiverTop parties happen each Friday night from late April through the end of July, featuring a different live band each week. The parties are on the roof, but only the roof of the lower level of the hotel. Don’t expect to be partying it up at the tip top of the hotel (which was what I thought before my first visit to the RiverTop). The view of the Arkansas River is nice and it’s something a little different than the rest of the bars in the area. If you’re lucky, you’ll even catch a breeze up there.
Admission is $5.00 a person and drinks are actually a bad deal for the cost. They do have some beer specials, but my advice would be to skip the $6.00 cocktails. Yes, Little Rock is inexpensive and you can find much better deals. Each week this year there is a different themed “Scarlet Special,” like denim night and makeover night. I have nothing to say about those, as makeover night sounds RIDICULOUS to me. Scarlet is a local radio personality; I met her once before and she seems okay.

May 18: Weekly Scarlet Special: Scarlet spotlights the best dressed girl at the party! Featuring the tunes of Grant Garland and Crosstown Traffic.
No party Memorial Day weekend.
June 1, 2007: Weekly Scarlet Special: Vendor Night (vendor TBA). The band is Molten Lava. (80’s music – yuck)
June 8, 2007: Weekly Scarlet Special: Vendor Night (vendor TBA). The music is Tragikly White, who is quite good.
June 15, 2007: Weekly Scarlet Special: Sport your favorite “arm candy”! Get accessorized by Scarlet with bangles, clutches, rings and more! Ms. Mac and the Groovetone is the entertainment.
June 22, 2007: Weekly Scarlet Special: Customer Appreciation Night! The Dempseys are on. I think I heard them somewhere and they were really good.
June 29, 2007: Weekly Scarlet Special: Scarlet spotlights the best dressed girl at the party! Dr. Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster is offering 70’s jams.
No party 4th of July weekend.
July 13, 2007: Weekly Scarlet Special: Get them while they’re hot! Scarlet tank tops and mens member tees will be handed out at the party! Wear your Scarlet tank and receive a gift certificate! Molten Lava is playing again.
July 20, 2007: Weekly Scarlet Special: Rock the boat! Go overboard with nautical fashion! Wear the season’s hottest shades of navy or cobalt, stripes, anchors and more! No thank you. Grant Garland and Crosstown Traffic return.
July 27, 2007: Weekly Scarlet Special: ‘80s night! Get into the spirit of the band and wear your favorite ‘80s gear! Still, there is nothing I hate more than the 80’s than wasps and the Yankees (baseball, not random people from the north). Venus Mission ends it for the season. I’m not a fan (see my “hate the 80’s” reference above) but a lot of my friends LOVE this band. If that’s your thing, go nuts.
