2008 Tax Rebate Check
I’m sure you’re all sitting by your mailbox eagerly awaiting the tax rebate check you’ve been promised for this spring. In the spirit of economic stimulus, I’ll be spending my check on a trip to Indonesia this fall. Somebody’s economy is going to be stimulated, anyway.
Check distribution will begin in May, and continue through the summer. Checks will be distributed based on the last two digets of your social security number. If you filed your taxes using the direct deposit option, you’ll receive your rebate check via direct deposit. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait on snail mail. Distributions are scheduled as follows:
DIRECT DEPOSIT
Last 2 Numbers of SSN | Distribution Date |
00 through 20 | May 2, 2008 |
21 through 75 | May 9, 2008 |
76 through 99 | May 16, 2008 |
SNAIL MAIL
Last 2 Numbers of SSN | Distribution Date |
00 through 09 | May 16, 2008 |
10 through 18 | May 23, 2008 |
19 through 25 | May 30, 2008 |
26 through 38 | June 6, 2008 |
39 through 51 | June 13, 2008 |
52 through 63 | June 20, 2008 |
64 through 75 | June 27, 2008 |
76 through 87 | July 4, 2008 |
88 through 99 | July 11, 2008 |
Determining how much you’re going to get is a little tougher. There is an online payment calculator, but it’s kind of a pain. You’ll need your 1040 (whatever kind of 1040 you used to prepare your taxes) and it takes about 10 minutes. My tax guy has all of that stuff, so I’m just going to sit back and hope for the best.
How are you going to spend your rebate check?
