City Running Tours in Chicago, New York and Washington D.C.

Forrest GumpCity Running Tours is a fun and healthy way to see the cities you visit, while burning off the extra calories from all of that airport cuisine you’ve been stuffing down your throat. These are (obviously) tours in which you run around the city, being led by a guide who provides information on the sites you pass and historical facts. The cities currently available include Chicago, New York and Washington D.C.

Chicago: There are three Chicago tours available. The first is based on the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, focusing on old Chicago and historic sites. The second is the “Wrigleyville Run,” starting and ending at Wrigley Field. Finally, there is a lake shore tour available along Lake Michigan. Those all sound great for runners, but I would bet you only have about another month of decent weather for this year in the windy city.

New York: New York offers several tours, including an 8-mile bridge run that takes you from Manhattan over the Brooklyn Bridge (which offers STUNNING views, especially at night), through the trendy Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, under elevated subway tracks and back over the Williamsburg Bridge to the Lower East Side. Or you can take a tour running in Central Park, checking out the sights downtown, in Greenwich Village, Harlem, the Lower East Side, or a Broadway run all the way up the famous street to the northern tip of Manhattan.

Washington, D.C.: D.C. tours offer runs with views of things like the Capitol Building, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the White House and Arlington Cemetery.

If the above don’t work for you, the company offers customized runs. The basic pricing is $60 for the first 6 miles and $6 for each mile after that.
