Free Gas from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
This summer you can receive FREE GAS cards from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, as well as win a FREE VACATION. How do you get in on the action? By giving a little bit of your time to a worthy cause (which you should be willing to do gratis). The walks are held in various parts of Eastern Texas, but as far as I can tell anyone can participate in the fund raising.
Participants in online fund raising during the months of July and August for Light The Night Walks, the Society’s annual evening fund raising walk, can earn $50 worth of free gas for every $500 they raise during the months of July and August. For every $250 raised, $15 gas cards will be earned. The cards will be available while supplies last. In addition, the top online Light The Night fundraiser in July and August will win a special grand prize: a vacation for four at one of the Marriott Vacation Club International’s Orlando Resort properties, including air transportation, courtesy of American Airlines. Woo Hoo!
“The goal of Light The Night is to build awareness and advance the Society’s mission to cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life for patients and their families,” said Tina Garcia, North Texas chapter Executive Director. “This, alone, is a great motivator. But with gas prices so high this summer, the Society saw this ‘Save at the Pump’ promotion as a great added incentive to do something good and get something everyone needs!”
The Light The Night Walks will happen around the country this fall, with teams of co-workers, families and friends walking together in twilight holding illuminated balloons — white for survivors, red for supporters and gold balloons for those who lost a loved one to cancer. The funds raised help the Society support leading-edge research and provide much-needed patient services. Walks are scheduled this year in the following:
- Dallas, Texas – Sunday, October 21
- Tyler, Texas – Saturday, September 29
- Fort Worth, Texas – Sunday, October 14
- Frisco, Texas – Sunday, October 28
- Wichita Falls, Texas – Saturday, September 29.
