Frontier Airlines Accepts Credit Cards In-Flight

CashlessFrontier Airlines has just announced their cabins have gone cashless. This following the same announcement by Hawaiian Airlines several months ago – do we see a trend forming?

Beginning April 1, 2007, in-flight products including DirecTV, Pay-Per-View movies and booze will be available for purchase using credit cards or debit cards only. Cash will no longer be a valid source of payment, which I’m sure is GREAT news to the flight attendants who no longer have to search high and low for change when someone wants to purchase a $5 drink with a $20. In eliminating the need for correct change, the new service is expected to expedite the in-flight service process. To accept and track purchases, Frontier’s flight attendants will carry a state-of-the-art PDA equipped with a card reader. I am unsure whether they will be able to provide receipts, which would also be a big help to the business traveler.
