* Review: The Doubletree Hotel is a beautiful Spanish style hotel located on IH-35 in Austin, Texas. The Doubletree 1biggest drawback of the hotel is the location. The Doubletree offers free shuttle service for locations within a 2 to 3 mile radius of the property, but there isn’t anyplace to go within 2 to 3 miles of the hotel. Except the mall, but I would rather sit in my room and stare at the walls than go to the mall. Flanked on either side by Pappasito’s and Papadeaux, your restaurant choices are limited as well. Upon check-in, don’t forget to get your Doubletree cookie. Also, don’t forget your bathing suit. One half of the rooms offer a door to the walkways surrounding the courtyard. On the upper terrace of the courtyard, there is a pool and hot tub. Free wireless is offered in the lobby. Your best bet for a connection is sitting away from the elevators. There is evidently some interference from the meeting room system in that area. Instead, choose on of the comfortable couches near the restaurant. In your guest room, you can plug your iPod in to the clock radio to access the music you love. This does not charge your iPod, so keep that in mind if you’re running out of battery juice.
