Las Vegas Monorail Tickets on Orbitz

Orbitz, the online travel provider, has partnered with the Las Vegas Monorail Company to begin offering monorail tickets online. Orbitz will be the first online travel agency to offer the tickets, which can be purchased on the Orbitz website and CheapTickets.

Fares will be sold in the Activities section on both sites. Tickets are available as stand alone purchases or as add-ons for vacation packages to Las Vegas. Prices range from $5 to $40 and ticket types offered are single-ride, two-ride, ten-ride, unlimited one-day pass and unlimited three-day pass.

According to the press release,

The Las Vegas Monorail is the quickest and easiest way to travel the Las Vegas Strip. The service is a seven-stop elevated train system that covers four miles of Las Vegas casinos and attractions, including a direct connection to eight premier resort destinations and the Las Vegas Convention Center. Trips that span the length of the Strip take 15 minutes or less, with trains arriving every few minutes. The Las Vegas Monorail’s future expansion plans include direct access to McCarran International Airport, as well as direct connections to additional resort properties. The Las Vegas Monorail is the only privately funded public transportation system in the country.

I don’t have experience on the monorail, but it surely doesn’t look as silly as renting a Rascal scooter or whatever people are doing these days. I know it’s a pretty lenghty trip between the strip and Freemont Street, but it should be swell for shorter trips.
