Lufthansa New York/Frankfurt Business Jets
Lufthansa just announced it will begin non-stop, all-business class service between Newark and Frankfurt beginning October 28, 2007. In addition, the current Lufthansa Business Jet flights between Newark and Munich will be upgraded to a three-class Airbus A330-300 widebody aircraft to accommodate increased demand in all categories on the route. Apparently, everybody wants to go to Munich.
The new “shuttle” service between Newark and Frankfurt will be operated with a Boeing 737-700 that has been retrofitted as a Business Jet. Flight LH 485 will depart Newark daily (excluding Saturdays) at 3:55 p.m. and arrive in Frankfurt at 5:40 a.m. the following morning, giving travelers a full day in Europe. The return flight, LH 484, will depart Frankfurt at 8:15 a.m. and arrive in Newark at 11:45 a.m., just in time for lunch. To tell you the truth, I think it’s a huge disadvantage to get to Frankfurt before 6:00 a.m. You can’t check in to your hotel, you can’t go directly to your meetings. What are you going to do for 2 hours while the rest of the country wakes up and gets going?
The plane is equipped with 44 lie-flat seats that provide a near-horizontal sleeping surface measuring 6’6″ long. In addition, Lufthansa promises extra seat pitche, more-generous table tops, power plugs for notebooks and reading lamps integrated into the seats to provide an enhanced working environment. All Lufthansa Business Jet flights are also now equipped with new, high-quality in-flight entertainment systems.
