Northwest Airlines Mobile Transactions

Northwest AirlinesNorthwest Airlines just announced customers can now purchase tickets, check-in for flights, and complete any transaction on its nwa.com website using handheld devices and wireless browsers. Very cool.

Customers accessing nwa.com or mobile.nwa.com using PDAs or web enabled cell phones (which they pretty much all are these days) are now able to view the site in a low-graphics, mobile format. That means it should load faster on your tiny mobile browser. According to the press release, Northwest is the first airline to provide its complete web site in this format for mobile users. Customers can do it all, including shopping for flights, purchasing tickets, checking in for flights, changing reservations, selecting seats and more. Okay, so you can’t print your boarding pass. Hopefully they’ll go to some sort of system like Chiltern Railways in the UK that uses a barcode text message as a boarding pass. That would REALLY be progress.
