* Review: Ivar’s Pier 54 Fish Bar is right next door to the world famous Ivar’s Seafood on Pier 54 of the Seattle Waterfront. Why would one go to the fish bar instead of the restaurant?

Fire BoatsWell, there is outdoor seating to take advantage of the rare sunny Seattle day. It is cheaper than the restaurant and faster. If you’re in a hurry but you still want to experience Ivar’s, this will do the trick.

I made my way to the Fish Bar and had the smoked salmon chowder and a salad. The two paired with a bottled water was about $8.00. I sat outside and watched some fruitcake lady talk to the seagulls that were hovering around the fire department boats next door. The chowder was quite good, as was the salad. They served Newman’s Own salad dressing, of which I am a big fan. No low cal stuff for Ivar’s, though. This is a great place to have a filling seafood lunch and get a big whiff of the smell of the ocean. Check it out if you go to Seattle.
