* Review: I think I put the bar too high for Los Lupes to actually be able to deliver – as far as impressing me with their Mexican cuisine. Yes, my obsession with comida Mexicana continues. I’ve been in Jersey for several months now and, thus, have not been able to get a decent Mexican meal. So on my current trip to Dallas, I was excited to get some good food in my belly. The Radisson staff highly recommended Los Lupes. The demographics at the place were approximately half gringo and half latino, which seemed favorable for the restaurant. But I forget that Dallas Tex-Mex and Houston Tex-Mex are just worlds apart. The salsa was tasty with a little kick. That is code for “my friends from the mid-west, don’t even try to eat this stuff or you’ll burn your tounge and curse your mother.” The $2.50 margaritas was quite good, and one hell of a bargain. Muy fuerte. The fajitas, though, were quite a disappointment. They just plain lacked flavor. Unless I burned a few too many taste buds eating the salsa – which just doesn’t seem likely. The meal was very reasonably priced, but I was just disappointed in the fajitas. Go for the margaritas and maybe some appetizers. If you get the chance, the Blue Goose is a much cooler place to go in the Dallas Metro Area.
