* Review: It’s no Don’Key’s, but Monterey’s serves up pretty decent Houston-style Mexican cuisine throughout Texas and Oklahoma. At least they have salsa verde, which is a HUGE improvement over any Mexican joint back home. Monterey’s offers some fantastic pricing, including “all you can eat” fajitas (I can’t eat any more than the standard portion, but you can give it a shot) for around $8 on Tuesdays. The $2.50 margaritas are worth the trip in and of itself. Don’t let anyone scare you away from the Greenspoint area in Houston. The Marriott Greenspoint has been my home for the last month and it really isn’t that bad. The restaurant does employ security, and is a good place near George Bush Intercontinental to grab a bite to eat when arriving or departing. As in any area, just don’t walk down that dark alley at 3:00 am by yourself.
