* Review: Pappasito’s is Spanish for “Applebees.” Okay, not really but it might as well be. I am CRAZY about Mexican food and Tex-Mex so I made my way to Pappasito’s on a recent trip to Austin. I’m not a big fan of chain restaurants, but the restaurant is adjacent to the Doubletree where I was staying and I had no car so Pappasito’s it was. The restaurant was JUMPING with college kids, which surprised me as I thought it was spring break time and Pappasito’s isn’t that close to the campus. The margarita was good (it’s pretty hard to screw up a margarita) but the food was ho-hum. I had a steak quesadilla from the appetizer menu, as I don’t have that big of an appetite. The steak was nicely marinated and there was a blend of cheeses, but that was it. Even with the flavorless pico di gallo I ordered on the side, the quesadilla just didn’t have much taste. Besides being greasy as heck. The did sprinkle feta cheese over the plate which was pretty odd but a nice touch.

Austin isn’t keeping it weird with this one.
