* Review: I’m not normally a girl to go along with the crowd, in restaurant selection or otherwise, but I decided to join my co-workers for dinner at Riz-Raz on a recent trip to Copenhagen. This was my first trip to Denmark, so I would have been much happier sampling the local Danish fare, whatever that may be. I was promised a cheap meal, so I caved. In my opinion, the $15 (U.S.) wasn’t exactly inexpensive. I understand the Scandinavian countries are expensive, but I’m sure I could have done much better with a Lonely Planet Guide and a little time to walk. But I was there, so I ate.

Riz-Raz is a vegetarian buffet, with two locations in the city. My advice? If you do decide to eat there, skip the cold dishes and go straight for the hot stuff. No dish was particularly appealing, but the pasta and spinach lasagna were tolerable. All in all, I was pretty disappointed with the meal. I was fine with the lack of meat, but not the lack of taste. We were seated upstairs in the restaurant. There is a buffet on each floor, but the one on the lower level has additional items. It’s worth the trip down the stairs. If you dislike really smoky rooms, you aren’t going to be happy in this joint. It was much more like sitting in a bar than a restaurant. There seem to be thousands of restaurants in Copenhagen, I’m sure you could do much better than Riz-Raz.
