* Review: I went for the mimosas and stayed for the crawfish pies. I had the chance to visit the St. Charles Tavern during my trip to New Orleans last April for Jazz Fest (and work). A friend suggested this hole in the wall for the best mimosas in town. Always a fan of a good mimosa, I decided to give it a shot. The buffet was recommended, but I’m weird about buffets and it was chock full of greasy southern style foods I despise. But the crawfish pies – Ahhh the crawfish pies. The flaky crust was filled with spicy sauce and crawfish the only way I’ll eat them – cooked and peeled and headless. The crustacean version of a filet. And this was just my scene. A run down looking, unpretentious diner with great service.
