Union County Music Fest in Cranford, New Jersey

UC Music Fest

The Union County Music Fest in Cranford, New Jersey is a FREE music fest being held this September 15, 2007 from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m at Nomahegan Park. The headliner hasn’t yet been announced (so I’m assuming they’re trying desperately to get someone great) but Chuck Berry will be in the house, which is cool. The festival will also feature The Smithereens, The Alarm, The English Beat, The Old Ceremony, Fountains of Wayne, The Apples in Stereo and even Trout Fishing in America from my home state.

Pre-festival, you can make the Rock on Walkathon from Shane Walsh Field to Nomahegan Park. It’s a paltry two miles, so get out of bed and go support cancer and stem cell research and support, benefiting the Love Hope Strength Foundation
& New Jersey Coalition for Cures. Here is the registration form for the walk.

Needing a karma boost (and goodies to go with it)? Walkers who raise $100 will receive a “Rock-On! Walkathon” t-shirt; walkers who raise $250 will receive a T-shirt, and a surprise gift bag and walkers who raise $1000 will receive a T-shirt, gift bag, and an invitation to a VIP Reception on September 14, with surprise guests. MLB is one of the sponsors, so you never know who might turn up.

I know, no one wants to go to New Jersey. I have to spend entirely too much time here myself. But you can rest assured that if I’m not working (or in China, which is entirely possible) I’ll be there. I like festivals, especially when they’re free. Even if you’re as far away as “the city,” I’m sure New Jersey Transit will be happy to take you.

I don’t have any of the important details, like if coolers are allowed and what kind of food and drinks will be available (although with Bud Light as a sponsor I bet they’ll be on hand someplace) or if you can bring a camera. I’ll let you know when I find out, or if you’re in the know please leave a comment.
