United Airlines New San Francisco/Taipei Service

United Airlines was happy to launch its new daily, nonstop passenger and cargo service between San Francisco and Taipei. This makes United is the only U.S. carrier to offer nonstop service between the U.S. and Taipei.

“We are pleased to offer our customers direct access to an important economic and cultural center by establishing a nonstop link between the Bay Area, Silicon Valley and Taipei,” said Kevin Knight, United’s senior vice president-Planning.

United Flight 871 will depart SFO at 12:41 p.m. and land in Taipei Taoyuan International Airport at 5:10 p.m. (local time) the following day. Flight 872 will depart Taipei at 12:10 p.m. and arrive in San Francisco at 8:24 a.m. the same day.

The airline will operate the combined passenger and cargo San Francisco-Taipei service using a Boeing 777 aircraft configured with 10 first class seats, 45 business class seats and 198 economy seats, including 84 Economy Plus seats that offer up to five more inches of legroom. Those are nice, I had a row of three on my trip to Australia this winter.

Here’s a fun promotion: You can earn up to 10,000 bonus miles through August 31, 2007 by traveling to Taipei. For details, go to www.united.com/tpebonus.
