WorldPerks Visa Signature

If you have excellent credit and travel often with Northwest Airlines, then WorldPerks® Visa® Signature is an airline mileage card you should consider using.

Quick facts:

  • Our rating:B-
  • Interest rate: 14.75% APR for purchases
  • Earning rewards: 5 miles for each dollar spent in certain restaurants; 2 miles for each dollar spent on Northwest Airlines airfare; 1 mile for 1 dollar on all other purchases
  • Reward options: free travel with Northwest Airlines or any of their partners

When spending money at Northwest Airlines you’ll earn two miles for each dollar spent. For all other purchases you’ll earn 1 mile for each dollar spent. In certain restaurants you can earn up to 5 miles for each dollar spent. There isn’t a pre-set spending limit.

When your application is approved, 20,000 bonus miles will be added to your card. The miles do not expire but there are certain mileage limits: if you spend more than $80,000 in any calendar year or over $10,000 per billing cycle, will be limited to 1 mile for 2 dollars spent.

To avoid the limitations, you can choose to have your credit card bill paid automatically in full each month.

The annul membership fee is rather high: $90.00 and the APR is 14.75% for purchases. The APRs for all transactions on this card are tied to the highest Prime Rate during a 1-3 months period; therefore the APRs may never reach the lowest possible rate. Plus the card never allows balance transfers.

The card comes with all other benefits offered by U.S. Bank, including travel insurance, auto rental insurance, online account access and many more. However, the card still has few benefits compared to other signature cards.

If you afford to pay in full each month (and use the auto-payment option to avoid the limitations) and travel with Northwest Airlines or their partners quite often, then this card is for you.
