Wyndham Hotels New Bordeaux and Backyard Burger Summer Menu

Burger and WineWyndham Hotels and Resorts is offering a casual new way to enjoy French wines this summer, through the new Bordeaux and Backyard Burger menu offering. What the H E double hockey sticks is Bordeaux and Backyard Burger? Wyndham’s executive chefs and the French Bordeaux trade group Counseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux have created a menu of specially-selected Bordeaux (that would be wines) with Wyndham’s new all-American Backyard Burger. I’m not a burger fan, but the wine sounds tasty. Guests can choose between a flight of three 2 oz. Bordeaux tastings paired with an appetizer of mini-Backyard Burgers or pair individual glasses of Bordeaux varietals with the brand’s signature full-size burger. I’d go for the first option. Does ground beef cleanse your palate? 🙂

“We’ve reinvented the classic hamburger and paired it with something unexpected,” said Peter Strebel, president of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. That is certainly true. “In keeping with Wyndham’s casual yet upscale guest experience, this
special summer menu gives both wine amateurs and enthusiasts the opportunity to discover the complex taste of Bordeaux wines in a fun way by pairing them with our signature burger and fries.”

Wyndham’s Backyard Burger is named for the quintessential patty flipped on backyard grills across America. Oh, I thought it was from the popular fast food chain (the one with the REALLY TASTY blackened chicken sandwich). The 1/2-pound burger is made from 100% Black Angus beef and includes a unique spice recipe that gives it a robust and zesty flavor. The burger is topped with white cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, hearty tomatoes, red onions and toasted cross bun. Skip the lettuce and that doesn’t sound half bad.

Featured wines include:

  • Michel Lynch Merlot: This deep ruby red wine offers blackberry, cherry and plum aromas with a powerful, fruit forward finish.
  • Chateau Puy Boyrien Rouge: This delicious red emits fruit aromas and tastes supple, smooth and elegant.
  • Chateau Listran: This red varietal offers fruit aromas with excellent depth and soft tannins.
  • Michel Lynch Sauvignon Blanc: This crisp white wine releases aromas of green apples, grapefruit and melon with a long, lasting finish.

Participating Wyndham Hotels and Resorts will offer the Bordeaux and Backyard Burger program from July 1 to September 30, 2007. Visitors can indulge in these meals pool-side, at the restaurant or in-room.
